Meet Your Dentist

Dr. Patrick Minnick grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Waukee High School. He completed his undergraduate degree in Human Physiology, and then graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He joined the United States Army as an active duty dentist for five years, where he provided dental care for soldiers at Ft. Jackson and Ft. Stewart. Dr. Minnick is now excited for the opportunity to serve the community where he grew up!

At Lakeview Family Dental, Dr. Minnick is dedicated to enhancing his patients' oral health while helping them achieve functional, beautiful smiles. He is committed to providing personalized care that supports each individual’s smile goals and promotes a lifetime of confident, healthy living.

I would like to sincerely thank Dr. Hourigan for his many years of dedicated service to this practice and the community. Dr. Hourigan started Lakeview Family Dental in 1992 and retired this past June after 33 years in this office. His commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality dental care has left a lasting impact, and it is truly an honor to continue the legacy he built. As he steps into a well-deserved retirement, I want to express my gratitude for the trust he has placed in me to care for his patients.   • Professional Dental Cleanings

    Our hygienists recommend a dental cleaning every six months to remove plaque and tartar buildup that brushing and flossing alone can't reach. Regular cleanings help prevent cavities, gum disease, and more—giving you a cleaner, healthier smile.

  • White and Silver Fillings

    Cavities start when bacteria break down enamel, and once decay reaches the inner layer (dentin), treatment is essential. We offer both composite (white) and amalgam (silver) fillings to repair damage and restore function—based on your preference and the clinical situation.

  • Composite Veneers

    Composite veneers are a fast, conservative cosmetic treatment ideal for reshaping or whitening your front teeth. We apply and polish custom white composite directly on your natural tooth—no lab work, minimal prep, and beautiful results in just one appointment.

  • Dental Crowns

    Crowns are custom-made restorations that cover and protect weakened teeth. In your first visit, we prepare the tooth and take impressions. Your crown is then crafted by a dental lab and placed during a follow-up appointment. Strong, aesthetic, and built to last.

  • Dental Bridges

    A bridge fills the space left by a missing tooth by anchoring to neighboring teeth with crowns. It’s a great option to restore chewing, prevent shifting, and improve your smile—all without surgery.

  • Dental Implants

    While our office does not surgically place dental implants, we specialize in restoring them once they have healed. After a specialist places the implant post, we fabricate and attach a custom crown to complete the restoration. The result is a natural-looking, fully functional tooth replacement designed for long-term success.

  • Tooth Extractions

    If a tooth is severely damaged, infected, or too loose to save, extraction may be necessary. We ensure your comfort with local anesthetic, gently remove the tooth, and clean the area thoroughly. We’ll also discuss follow-up options for replacement if needed.

  • Deep Cleanings - Scaling & Root Planing

    If you’ve been diagnosed with periodontitis (bone loss around the teeth), scaling and root planing can help. This deep cleaning removes harmful buildup below the gum line and helps stop bone loss. We follow up with more frequent cleanings to help restore your gum health.

  • Custom Nightguards

    If you grind or clench your teeth at night (bruxism), a custom nightguard can prevent wear, reduce jaw discomfort, and improve sleep quality. We make our guards in-house for a perfect, comfortable fit.

  • Dental Emergencies (Same Day Appointments!)

    Dental pain can’t wait. We offer same-day emergency appointments to diagnose the issue and start treatment quickly. Whether it’s a broken tooth, infection, or sudden discomfort, we’ll prioritize your care and get you out of pain.
